FIFA agrees on Brazil slow world cup preparations

FIFA World Cup 2014 - Brasil

Everyone knows how the stadiums’ renovation work is going on in Brazil which is the host of June 2014 FIFA world cup, and surprisingly after many promises, Brazil has not been able to deliver number of stadiums it said before. There is going to be Confederations Cup in June 2013 and FIFA has asked Brazilian football association to at least ready six stadiums by the end of March, but Brazil has only made two stadiums available by the deadline. The slow moving renovation work could be dangerous looking at the labor problem back in Brazil, moreover, coming world cup would be the first one to use a goal line technology which also needs extra infrastructure work there. Likewise, Brazil has also not completed the work on Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro which is going to host Confederations cup final in June 30; it had April 27 deadline. Recently, FIFA inspection team had to cancel its trip to Brazil citing heavy rain on ground zero.

Despite all the allegations of slow work in there, FIFA is much confident that Brazil will be ready by the time World cup goes on the floor. FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who is not worried by the speed of work in Brazil, said on Tuesday after a meeting with Brazil sport’s minister and FIFA committee responsible for organizing world cup, “Don’t be afraid. It’s all a question of trust and confidence. From the FIFA side it is totally there. They will be ready because it is the World Cup and no one can afford not to be ready for the World Cup,”

Blatter plans to visit at least 12 world cup sites during his visit to Brazil in June and sports minister Aldo Rebelo is expected to accompany him. Rebelo made a commitment that Brazil officials are looking at Sao Paulo situation very closely where renovation work is not able to run at full pace for lacking funds. World cup timetable has already been prepared and announced back in September and final draw of teams is scheduled to be announce on 1 P.M. on Dec. 6 at Costa do Sauipe in Bahia and by then everyone expect all world cup sites will be ready, but if something goes wrong, it would be a setback for Brazil as a country who is the host of FIFA world cup.

Anyways, let’s hope everything will be completed by the time world up goes on the floor.
