French club Paris St-Germain is always known for throwing exaggerating figures for players of its liking, we have seen in the past how it snatched some of the best talents in the business from others. This time, it was the turn of Napoli’s striker Edinson Cavani, who has reportedly signed a five-year deal for French champions at £55m figure. This is perhaps the biggest in French history and PSG doesn’t mind losing their pocket to hire players like Cavani who has been the top scorer in Serie A last season. He has scored 78 goals in total playing for Napoli which made him an eye candy for top notch clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea, but he chose a French side to face even tougher challenges. His forward line in France will have Ligue 1 player of the year Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has scored 30 goals for Parisians. His strike rate at Napoli was magnificent where he scored 102 goals in 136 games making him one of the finest strikers in the business. Earlier, he has been associated with Danubio and Palermo from 2005 to 2010 before he joined the Italian clubs back in 2010.
Highly energetic PSG president seems to have a puffiest chest these days after hiring one of the best forward in contemporary soccer, he said, “The transfer of Edinson Cavani is further proof of the club’s ability to attract the best players in the world. The player was seduced by the club’s sporting project and is delighted to be joining an ambitious side, impatient to take on new challenges. We are especially happy to present such a hugely coveted player of immense talent to our supporters.”
While optimistic Cavani also backs up his decision to join PSG than English or Spanish clubs, he said, “I’d like to thank everyone who made this transfer possible, it’s a great project. I’d also like to thank the people in Napoli who went out of their way to make it possible. I come here with lots of joy, lots of confidence, lots of hunger and lots of motivation to win major trophies.”
Actually, rumors were in the air about his leaving Napoli for quite some time, but where he would go was not confirmed coz he was receiving offers from around the world and when PSG finalized the deal it immediately informed the world via a press conference that they have sealed a deal with Cavani. Things would have surely been different for the striker in France than Italy and he would certainly use this opportunity to even sharpen his skills.
