Soccer is the game of expectations; perhaps lot more expectations, especially if you have been in the limelight for any reason. Recently, there has been a long running battle of glory between Spanish giant Real Madrid and EPL club Tottenham Hotspur coz former wants latter to release their world class player Bale while Spurs are denying to free their eye candy of the year. If rumors are to be believed, Bale can become the world’s priciest player if Real’s apparent bid takes place in reality. As of now, news is running outside official corridor but if Real comes forward with a surprising over 100 million bid for Bale, he would surpass Ronaldo and become the most priced player ever in the history of football. When money starts rolling so fast in a game how is it possible that fans stop expecting their star players to win every significant award of the game. This is something that is being happening with Bale as he has been in the news more than anyone else in last few months; therefore everyone expects him to be among top three contenders for UEFA’s best player in Europe award. But, unfortunately, Bale could only secure a seventh place for himself and gave room for an experienced France international Franck Ribéry. He belongs to Championship league winner Bayern Munich perhaps three more are there in the top ten list from the same club which shows a budding dominance of a French club in entire Europe.
Other two names in top three list are rather expected ones: one is all time favorite Messi while other is his close challenger Ronaldo. Messi has scored 46 goals in La Liga last season apart from winning European Golden Shoe award; in fact, it was him who helped his side take away Spanish League title with a comfortable margin. Similarly, Ronaldo has also been a strong contender for every possible award last year; he has been the top scorer in Championship League with his 12 excellent goals along with 22 more playing for Real Madrid.
The final winner will be announced on August 29 during Championship League Group stage draw by the live voting of a journalist penal appointed for the task. The more important news is the fact that Bale could not make it to the top three while everyone had expected him coz of his media coverage throughout last few months. Anyway, it really does not matter if he is not there; perhaps what does matter is his steepest offer price by The Vikings.
