EPL new season is truly plating what everyone expected from it. First few matches of the new season proved that this is going to be the more exciting league season than what we have seen in recent times. In a nail biting finish, Liverpool defeated Stoke by just one goal and secured their first opener win in last twelve years. The match is more remembered for brilliant performance of Liverpool’s goalie Simon Mignolet who saved Jon Walters’ penalty shot excellently in the last few minutes of the game. Forward Simon Mignolet scored the only goal of the game in thirty seventh minute; this lead could have been much more had Liverpool capitalized several opportunities obliged by Stoke during the game. Anyway, last few minutes converted this game from a usual one to an entertainment masterpiece coz of Stoke striker Jonathan Walters’ low free kick being followed by Kenwyne Jones which ultimately saved by debut goalkeeper Mignolet. Liverpool played this match without its star Luis Suarez who is serving a ban for his inhuman act against Chelsea player in the last season. On the other side, Stoke also put some resistance at the center, in fact, they also brought down Liverpool under pressure at once, but unfortunately for them, it was not their day.
The matches ended giving three points to The Reds while on the other side, Potters’ assistant manager Mark Bowen backed up Walters, who missed the penalty shot, after the match. He held a press conference and said, “He’s missed a couple in the past but he struck it well enough. I just thought the keeper made a good save. Jon Walters gives everything for this club, so nobody in the dressing room will do anything other than pick him up and get him ready for the next game.”
Apart from this, he also praised his goalie Asmir Begovic who restricted the lead with his outstanding work at the goalpost, he added, “I thought it was going to be a battle and the keeper kept us in it at times It was a case of staying in the game as long as you can because we are asking them to play a different kind of game and you hope they don’t lose confidence, which I didn’t think they did.”
At the moment, Liverpool is on the fourth place with Manchester United is on the top and everyone is pleased to see a brilliant start of the new League season.
