It is not necessary you always get success in hiring players of your choice in your first attempt, perhaps, sometimes, it can take as many as several attempts before you could finally convince other club to accept your bid. Chelsea is one such club who doesn’t easily give up on players of its choice and it holds true for United’s dissenting forward Wayne Rooney who has long been believed to leave EPL champions. If we look at some of his aspirants, Chelsea is the only club who has made two unsuccessful bids for him, yet they want to try once again to take their favorite player to Stamford Bridge. José Mourinho, the intelligent soccer mind, is known for calculating an exact time to place a bid and this time he wants to try his luck when they visit United’s hometown to play their next league match. Reportedly, United’s first league home match is expected to be a great opportunity for both sides to discuss the matter sitting on a live table. Looking at United’s response on last two bids, it initially looked a daunting task, but now, knowing Blue’s persisting interest, a possible midway is very much feasible. Pensioners’ last two bids were for £20m and £25m plus add-ons which were refused on the spot by Moyes, and now, they are expected to place a significantly higher bid to force United rethink their plans with former Everton standout.
Mourinho said about his strategy for a possible deal, “I don’t want Chelsea to do it before we go there. I think this period, by the ethical point of view, is a period where we’re going to be quiet. We have plans B and C. Don’t ask me names. It’s difficult to speak about players from other clubs. We have the conditions to try to improve our team by bringing in one more player and we are going to try that till the end.”
He further explained his repeated interest in the 27-year-old striker, “You try, because nobody forbids you to try. When you think that you’d like to have one player and the market is open and the official bids are not forbidden, official bids are always accepted in an ethical way. Of course, the player’s owners can do exactly what we did in relation to David Luiz and Barcelona.”
Chelsea has a winning start in the current season so as United, and the success of this deal will largely depend upon how United takes Rooney’s dissent and tries to rectify his issues.
