Arsenal has ever been one of the strongest contenders in English Premier League, but since last few seasons it is fast losing its charm which is worrying its diehard fans who always love to recall them ‘The Invincibles.’ Actually, they are missing a league trophy from their collection since ten years as they won last silverware back in 2003-04 and they are since fighting to reclaim their glory. This year, things can be different; at least Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain thinks so. The 20-year-old midfielder says there is an unexplained vibe within the team that they will again triumph the English topflight – after a gap of a decade. Last ten years have seen lots of changes in Gunners right from their infrastructure to backend strategies which are now mentored by none other than master craftsman Arsène Wenger who himself can refine the confidence level of any team. This season, they could not have a dream start but they made a quick comeback with back to back wins in next matches, moreover they are now equipped with Real star Mesut Ozil. These facts favor Arsenal’s chances to create history again as they did during their glorious days.
Chamberlain gave an interview recently and revealed their newly built confidence, “We’ve been contenders ever since I came to Arsenal. Or at least that’s the feeling in the squad. We really think we can take the title.
“Obviously it hasn’t happened in recent seasons. But in the form we showed at the end of last season, and – when I was watching from the sidelines – in the spirit we’ve shown at the start of this, in the derby, everyone was fighting for each other. That team spirit, you can’t buy it. That, along with our manager and the signings, I’m full of optimism that this season can be a good one. We think we can win the title. Just like we believe we can win every competition we’re in. If you don’t believe that, then you don’t deserve to be at Arsenal.”
When asked about what he thinks about Mesut Ozil and how he would like to react knowing a £40million man into their squad, he said, “(I) Jumped in the air. But you don’t even have to be an Arsenal fan to jump in the air.
“When you find out that a world-class player like that is coming to England you’re going to jump for joy even if you’re a Tottenham fan. Well, maybe not a Tottenham fan, I won’t push it too far. In the end we and the fans have got what we want: a really good addition.”
