Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who used to be the Liverpool player until last summer, has apologized to all City fans for his mistakes that allowed his former club to equalize Swans lead and ended match in a draw. In fact, Shelvey also put his team ahead initially, but his hasty blunders allowed to wash off his affords later. The mistake would have been overlooked had any other player involved in it, but since he used to be a Liverpool player; he required to put his stand in front of the fans and show his loyalty towards The Jacks. It was his first encounter with his former team and his unwanted favor to them is obviously on radar of everyone. Notably, he switched from Anfield on a £5m deal last summer. Actually, his performance in this match was noteworthy not only by City fans but also by Liverpool fans coz the way he abruptly passed the ball allowing his former colleague equalize the initial lead which later proved crucial.
However, showing his great concern for manager Michael Laudrup, he later said, “I just want to say sorry to the fans for the two bad mistakes that gifted Liverpool a draw. You just want to go into a hole where nobody can see you when you give the ball away for the other team to score, but it has happened to great players over time.”
Though, the good news for him is his manager is backing him and praising his affords to regain the lead until the end. Even Liverpool manager is admiring his gameplay and said he would learn from experience. Laudrup said, “When you do that you go from heaven to hell in just a couple of minutes, scoring a goal in a very important game for you after two minutes but then you give away a goal – and another one with a ball lost.
“I told him ‘there are still 45 minutes, you have to learn from this and pull yourself together’, and I think he did great. He will become stronger out of this, his reaction in the second half was excellent.”
Anyway, he is still just a youngster with full of energy; hence he needs more time to gain rich experience to handle critical match situations like this one. Rodgers labeled him as an outstanding player who needs little bit polishing which he can only be gained via more experience.
