It is rare to see in soccer that managers are criticizing behavior of their own fans, especially when their team is winning. Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is one such person who is known for throwing his hard words on anyone whom he finds a hurdle, and this time he seems to be angry over Spurs fans coz none of the home crowd did help his team win their last nail biting finish over the Hull City. That match was almost leveled until the end, but thanks to Roberto Soldado’s late penalty that earned them full points and took on the fourth place in the leaderboard. This is not the first time Soldado has done the magic for White Hart Lane club as he has done this on two more occasions earlier this season. Though, he praised his men but openly blamed his own fans for not helping him either way otherwise they would have won with a bigger difference. According to him, most of the fans were nervous about the game and this anxiety was also being transformed into the players, but thanks to the great job done by 28-year-old forward, they finally won the match. He talked about the match, fans, and players in an interview given to a news source where he said, “I compliment the boys for what they did – great work rate. Not only that but we played away from home. We didn’t have the support that we should have had in a game that we needed a win.
“There was much anxiety present in the fans which transmitted to the players, so this victory is down to the players. We did it with no help today. It was difficult to break them (Hull). They came here with a good strategy and different to what other teams have done here which is defend and look to hit us on the counter.
“I think the thing we did different to the game against West Ham was that we waited patiently for our opportunity. It’s always difficult to get in behind a defence of five plus four in the middle and one up front.”
When he was talking about so many things how can he forget his hero of the game: Soldado, he said about him, “He’s a great finisher, so cool. Particularly at that time with the levels of anxiety present in the ground.
“We could have perfectly had a result like this against West Ham and our position in the league would be first so sometimes it’s difficult. I think we kept the ball on the ground and tried to play, tried to break in behind.
“We need people to be patient and support the players and give them the extra energy to go through and not the negative energy.”
