Soccer world cup is just around the corner and every team is highlighting its main players in front the world who could be the show stealers for them. This is another way to make your team in the eyes of the world even before you enter into your first event match. After Brazil, Argentina, and Portugal, it is time for Colombian national team to present its star player via media exaggeration. This is not the new phenomenon where coaches and managers use media power to highlight what they want to bring in the news and this time Colombian coach Jose Pekerman has predicted their twenty-seven-year old striker Radamel Falcao to be the best player in upcoming soccer world cup. Though, Falcao, who also plays in Ligue 1 for AS Monaco, is a fantastic roller of the ball, but whether he can overcome other world class players is yet to be seen in June next year. Actually, he has been on the radar of many league clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea off late, but as per his continual meets with Chelsea officials everyone predicts him to be at North London club this January. In any case, he is surely a game changer who has shown what he can do in just concluded match with Belgium where he was also the stand-in captain.
According to the coach Jose Pekerman, he is the finest central forward available today and wants to present him as the biggest threat to all the opponents in first Brazilian world cup after more than six decades. He said, “I think Falcao will be the best player at the World Cup. He has great qualities and a team that supports him at all times. He is smart and very technical and that is why he is one of the best centre-forwards in the world. I am proud to be the coach of a team which has Falcao. He is a unique player and any coach would want to have him in their team.”
He was briefing the media ahead of their march against Holland on Tuesday and added, “We are not afraid of Holland. But we do respect them – they always have good players and South American football has always admired this team. We want the chance to be measured against great players and continue to demonstrate the high levels we have been showing recently. It is a shame Robben will not be playing but I am sure they will have a replacement at a very good level.
“Recently we have shown great strength. We have reversed some of our bad times and played at a good level, producing some positive results at the same time.”
