Brilliant soccer brains are called those peoples who politely undermine anything that could have been a major cause of their psychological defeat before any big event. We have had many legendary masters of the game who used to take their defeats as a motivation for further matches and eventually showed to the world why they could rule the soccer fraternity for long. This time, we are talking about England national team’s manager Roy Hodgson who has ever been a cheeky fellow, but when it comes to defend his own country; he uses every kind of tool to defend their national soccer interest. After many years, England lost two back to back matches at Wembley which is surprising to everyone along with national manager himself, yet he refuses to accept there is any reason to worry with these friendlies defeats. He took these matches as the good opportunity for his teammates to prepare for the upcoming biggest soccer event in Brazil!
This is actually a proven tactic being used by every notable manager these days to round off any possible impact of a defeat over players’ mental stage and 66-year-old former English footballer is just doing that. Ruling out any impact on their world cup preparations, he said, “There’s certainly no question of panic. If anything I’m much wiser, with regard to the players I’ve got at my disposition and what we need to work on going into a tournament.”
“I’m not prepared to accept that two friendly defeats in which I have used a lot of players in two tough games is going to take the shine off what has been a very good year. It has been a great year for the Football Association on their 150th anniversary and it’s been a great year for me because we have qualified for the World Cup. We have achieved our goal and we have a lot to look forward to. I am looking forward very much to 2014.”
For him, this year has been full of entertainment and achievements for National English team despite some nasty defeats. He revealed how he used several aspiring players in these two matches and found them to be worthy enough for upcoming mega event otherwise he had no platform for testing them before taking them into the field. He added, “You are always disappointed to get boos but there are not many games when the home crowd don’t get the result they are hoping for and there are no boos. If we want to get acclaim, we are going to have to play better and win matches. We didn’t play well enough and we didn’t warrant that.”
