Soccer is the world of uncertainties where lots of things happen which were not even imagined some time ago by anyone. Yes, we are talking by once dissenting Liverpool player Luis Suarez who now seems to be transformed into the a lovely eye candy at Anfield. Everybody knows how desperate he was at one time to leave the league club and how Arsenal placed a so called intelligent bid to trigger his contract clause, but now, this is a history and Liverpool manager is planning to fit him into Steven Gerrard’s shoes. You heard it right, 40-year-old Northern Irish manager Brendan Rodgers seems to be counting on him for a stand in captain’s job during their important league clash with Spurs. If it happens, it would be a great opportunity for Uruguayan footballer to prove his loyalty for The Reds. Notably, upcoming clash with Tottenham Hotspur is going to be a tough affair for Anfield club, coz they are already missing their two star performers: skipper Gerrard and striker Daniel Sturridge, and if their bet on Suarez comes out to be unsuccessful, they can lost their second spot on the leaderboard. Rodgers talked about their missed players during a pre-match press meet where he said, “Sturridge being out is a miss. His stature and his quality we will miss but as a group we will come together and the same goes for Stevie obviously.
“Still, we’ve had it here before. Whenever Daniel Sturridge wasn’t playing we won games, whenever Luis Suarez wasn’t playing we won games. It is an opportunity for others to step up to the plate. The focus is on the overall squad and over the course of the next three weeks or so that won’t be called into question.”
“Luis is in great form at the moment, his quality and energy and robustness is where he comes into his own. He is remarkable and is up for every game so there is no worry there. We have enough talent in the squad means we can restructure the team a little bit but we have enough quality.”
While assuring his confidence again on Suarez, Irish manager added, “Would Luis be ready for the captaincy? 150%. Absolutely. We shall see who will be captain. Daniel Agger is fit. He didn’t train at the start of the week because he was ill, but he has been training now and he’s available for selection. You’ll just have to wait and see what my decision is at White Hart Lane.”
