This year seems to be getting more heat in the English Premier League that is why leaderboard positions are dancing with every match. Chelsea, the nowhere team in the beginning of the season, is on the top against all the predictions of every soccer pundit, in fact, they had never been in the winner list for any expert, but you call it a magnificent show in the middle or whatever this North London team stunned everybody when they reached to the top of English top flight. The magic came true on Saturday when they defeated Hull by 2-0 thanks to an impressive performance from 29-year-old Spanish footballer Fernando Torres and 23-year-old Belgian center back Eden Hazard who supplied the food for their ultimate top spot. It was 200th match appearance for the Torres in the English top league that enlisted him in the elite list of league players’ staying for so long over here. Though, Chelsea can only enjoy its peak position for another few days as Arsenal and Manchester City both are going to clash on Monday and Saturday respectively and hopefully one of them will again overcome Chelsea as difference is just of one point.
The role of Hazard is specifically noteworthy here coz this is the same player manager Mourinho showed his extreme confident on and refused to sell him even for one hundred million pound. That time, it was taken as his exaggerated statement to be in the media headlines, but now, this Belgian footballer proved his worth for his former Everton manager. Mourinho admired him and said, “The club made that decision because every manager wants a player like him. I’m not expecting to put too much pressure on him or for him to be the man of the match every game, but what I expect from him is his motivation, his commitment, his responsibility. This season I think you are watching a much more mature player and because of that he is becoming a fantastic player.”
This win made Chelsea a strong contender for the title thanks to their back to back four straight wins. Like Hazard, Torres show was also impressive as he scored in the second consecutive game and astonished his manager too. Goalkeeper Petr Cech described their chances this season as, “Now we’re top of the league for the first time in a long time and hopefully we can stay there. We hope to keep going. We are getting better and today was a very difficult game. But we were very solid and good in attack and that’s why we score goals. We are a young team and hopefully we can take advantage of that.”
