Fans disturbance has ever been a problem for ground security, especially when one team is winning a match convincingly. Luis Suárez, the scorer in the match along with Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge, reported an incident to the referee where some coins were thrown on him from a section of the stadium. Later, referee escalated the issue to another referee and then to the ground staff and security personnel. Though, this case is just a minor one but taking note of the severity of this case police has started an investigation of the matter and trying to find out if it was a planned act or just a spontaneous reaction from fans. Actually, Suarez informed about the instance in the second half and pointed out an area, in Uruguayan direction, where other similar items are being thrown on players, specifically some minor missiles.
Police, who is investigating the matter, revealed that “We can confirm we are investigating following reports of some missiles being thrown during the Liverpool vs. Everton football match this evening, Tuesday, Jan. 28.
“The incidents took place during the first half of the game when a number of coins and other small objects are believed to have been thrown from the stands onto the playing area. Officers are requesting CCTV from the stadium and will review any footage as part of inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incidents.”
As far the match with Everton is concerned, it was thoroughly a one sided affair and Liverpool’s force of strikers continuously put pressure on the opponents from every corner of the field. First goal was scored by Steven Gerrard in the twenty first minute, next two goals were from Daniel Sturridge, and last one was added by Luis Suárez.
