Championship league has become a title to die for for English club Manchester United as they are nowhere in domestic league hence can only save their face with some better scoring on European front. Manager David Moyes has until been quite optimistic that his team would showcase best of their caliber in the last sixteen of much talk about soccer league, but on the contrary, he was amazed to see how they were crushed by Olympiakos with a 2-0 margin. It could have been a usual defeat if they were playing in Premier league coz they have had a worst English season this year, but in UEFA cup, they are supposed to perform much better than what they have been doing in England. Tuesday match was a crucial one for Moyes credibility at Old Trafford; in fact, many have started talking about his future in England after some dismissible performances in both English and European front. However, the good thing is, he accepted his defeat and did not blame referees this time and added it was his failure he could not lead United as supposed by club bosses. Calling it a nastiest performance in Europe, he said, “It was a really poor performance. We never really got going from the start and we didn’t deserve anything because of the way we played.
“We never really got to grips with things and to a man you could hardly pick anybody out. We just didn’t perform. We came into the game in good form and a good mindset but it just didn’t show. I am just surprised. I didn’t see that level of performance coming. I just didn’t see it. I take responsibility. It is my time and I will always front it up. We didn’t play well. We have to play better. The players are hurting as well. They know how they performed, but there is a team here, that won’t change, and we’ll stick together.”
Like every optimistic man in the world, Scottish football manager is still confident they can cover up their saddened loss in the second leg at home. Those who are following United closely off late, know how exaggeratedly he promised some massive changes in the side when joined League defenders, in fact, he made several media statements to spend mounting money for aspiring players but got first setback when could not convince most of the ambitious players to join Old Trafford club which was labeled as his first failure as Alex successor. Anyway, there is still some time to prove he can sustain in England for remaining term if he could revive his position in the leaderboard. Let’s see how he does that!
