Hoeness sets to challenge his sentence in tax evasion case

March 14, 2014 by 888Scoreonline

Tax evasions have ever been a blemish over any notable; does not matter where they belong to or how powerful they have been in their area. It holds true across the globe and every sports; we have seen why Spanish media exaggeratedly highlighted Neymar issue and why Barca president had to resign off his high profile job amid several criticism of involvement in tax fraud. It is not the only case of tax evasion in sports fraternity as German club Bayern Munich is another one who has been subjected to tons of unexplained money and who held responsible for this? It was President Uli Hoeness who was convicted of evading tons of money from State authorities just to shed away tax liability. More importantly, the verdict has come on such an important time when Munich is ruling the world and it is also a fact that Hoeness is the man who converted this team into the world leader which is proving its strength in front of the whole world. They are into the last eight of Championship league and most probably going to be the first ever team to defend their European title. The charges that proved against German include illegal money stashed in Swiss banks just to evade tax liability into his home country.

Hoeness has been a notable figure across the soccer fraternity and served his nation for more than two generations that is why when his case of money laundering convicted him, sports fraternity amazed to see why he admitted his crime and got a three and a half year sentence. Now, reports are coming that he would appeal against his sentence, and according to some legal experts, he has bright chances to be heard positively and possibly his sentence could also be reduced coz of his own admission for his crime. Notably, State authorities had leveled charges of evading some €3.5 million of tax and everyone surprised to see when he admitted right in the first day of the hearing that he actually laundered triple to that amount – somewhere around €10 million.

Because of his own admissibility, court convicted him guilty and issued a sentence which is now going to be challenged in the higher court of law. It is probably going to be the biggest tax evasion case in German history as there has never been a case where a President of a big club has been convicted and then decided to challenge the judgment. Next few weeks are going to be hotter for German fans when they would see Munich fighting for the last four in the CL along with Hoeness defending his side in the higher court.
