This is a well-known fact that Manchester United, especially after new manger took over the charge, is finding it very difficult to attract high profile players and why this is happening to a club like United is not understandable to anyone. Many are calling it a correction period for the league defender where they are trying to reform their squad after Alex reign and it would take some time, therefore they are supposed to lose some short term battles for gaining a long run sustainability. Now, Liverpool manager has copied the long time media running stories and said that United would have to qualify for the Championship league if they want to remain in the aspiring list of good players. This statement from a rival club means a lot for newly appointed manager who is already struggling to secure a respectable leaderboard position. This could also be an intelligent statement issued just before their showdown in English Premier League as Brendan Rodgers still believes United can bounce back anytime coz they have no shortfall of world class players even today. Right now, Liverpool is on number two while United is at six, so on paper they are far away to make any difference in their final standing this season, however, a win against United would make them more comfortable at the top leaving Reds 14 points adrift of their rival.
If it ever happens, Moyes could end his first season in England empty handed and possibly could face a termination looking at the vibes of club bosses these days. Scottish football manager understands the tough road ahead of him and describes it as, “We still have a lot of work to get in to the Champions League. But when you’re not in it, even though this club is a worldwide, monumental club, we found it difficult because the best players want to play in the best competitions.
“This was Liverpool and we weren’t in the Champions League. In order to get in some of the type of players we want, that’s where we need to be and we’re trying to be. Any club will suffer the same when they’re not in there. There is no doubt it will hurt you, but they will know that.”
Talking about Liverpool and their draught in league since last twenty years, he added, “We were talking about the great Liverpool teams — one year becomes two and then all of a sudden it was 20 years since they won the title. It can get away from you very quickly. It’s our focus and drive to arrive back. We have a long way to go but have shown great potential to be in there.”
In nutshell, United could be the next Liverpool if they do not rectify their mistakes, especially when they have been ruling the soccer world for two decades!
