English Premier League is perhaps the only soccer league where minds play more than players in the field, i.e., club bosses intentionally keep creating buzz regarding their position, form, and opponents, just to remain in the highlight, or sometime, to demoralize their opponents to earn better chances to triumph the title ultimately. Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City have been ruling the top spots of the leaderboard for quite some time now, and every manager is praising others and counting them to have better chances, don’t know if they are doing this intentionally just to secretly concentrate over the title in the backdrop or this is their sincere assumption. But in any ways, everyone has a strong feeling that managers like Manuel Pellegrini, Jose Mourinho, Brendan Rodgers, and Arsene Wenger can never let English topflight out off their hands so easily that is why everyone strongly believes whatever they speak in the media is completely different of what they actually do in the dressing room. Jose Mourinho, who has long been saying that their table position is misleading as City has played comparatively lesser games hence Pellegrini has better chances over them. While on the other side, Rodgers and Wenger are also not willing to accept that they are in the race to win the league title, but no one has until denied they can’t compete for the much talked about English trophy.
Pellegrini recently praised Arsenal in a press meet and said, “That’s why I have so much respect for Arsene Wenger, saying Arsenal can do it. Afterwards if they can’t do it then it’s another problem. But if you are at an important club you can’t say: ‘We don’t have pressure to win a title. The other clubs have it all.’ I think the two teams have the same pressure.
“I don’t like to take the pressure my team. I think all big teams know they must play with pressure. I don’t try to take advantage and say: ‘We don’t have any pressure because we play away’ or: ‘They are the best team, they are top of the table’.”
Similarly, former Everton manager has long been saying that Liverpool has an advantage coz they are not competing on European front therefore they can better concentrate over English title only. However, Pellegrini does not believe this and said, “If Liverpool win the title, it will be because of the way they’ve played in the Premier League, not because they’ve not been in Europe.”
