Mourinho considers £27m price tag for Luke Shaw too much

July 27, 2014 by 888Scoreonline

The nineteen year old English defender Luke Shaw could have found a home at Old Trafford, but he is still an overspent asset according to his once aspiring side Chelsea. The reason for last moment backing up on the bid for the Southampton youngster was explained by the former Everton manager Jose Mourinho who said the amount demanded by him was way too much for his caliber, in fact, he further added and kept on saying it would have killed his side had they brought him at a £100,000 a week salary. Actually, transfer windows are like an open market where every team tries hard to lure its aspiring players and when anyone fails, it somehow finds a way to label missed players as the not required ones and second term serving Chelsea manager could be doing just that. Now, he finds a £27m sum for an under twenty player way to high but did not told the reason why they were once so interested in bringing him to Stamford Bridge. Notably, Manchester United signed promising center back Shaw at the figure which is still unreasonable for many experts.

Apart from that, there is also a clause where teenage could get an increment if he could perform well in the upcoming English season. Actually, these days, value of money seems to be at its lowest otherwise it would have not been possible for the clubs like Real Madrid or even Manchester United to create new signing records every other month. Mourinho explained his lost interest in the player and told how it would have imbalanced their balance sheet and adherence to the FFP norms if they had knot a deal with the Gaal’s eye candy. He said, “If we pay to a 19-year-old boy what we were being asked for, to sign Luke Shaw, we are dead. We would have killed our stability with financial fair play and killed the stability in our dressing room, because when you pay that much to a 19-year-old kid – a good player, fantastic player – but when you pay that amount of money, the next day, we would have had players knocking on our door.

“They would have been saying, ‘How is it possible I play 200 games for this club, won this and that, yet a 19-year-old comes here and gets more money than I get?”

On the others side, Gaal is satisfied with the way he could manage to lure his aspiring player to join the team that lost last league season so miserably. United’s assistant manager: Ryan Giggs, too, added, “Luke is a very talented young left back with great potential.

“He has developed immensely during his time at Southampton and has all the attributes to become a top player.”
