The cold war between clubs and national sides is not new, in fact, the core agenda of this fight has ever been the use of star players and how national team should take care of highly priced players. For that reason even many clubs hesitate releasing their players for national duty and start lambasting over national team selectors when such players returned injured. Last Chelsea game with Liverpool was one such game which can raise another fire between North Londoners and Spanish selectors since according to Blues boss Jose Mourinho centre-forward Cesc Fabregas has suffered a hamstring problem hence will not be able to play for his national side. Notably, Spanish coach Vicente Del Bosque had shortlisted Fabregas for Euro qualifiers and this statement from Mourinho could be taken like an instruction for the national team not to include him for any international game. It has been just been few weeks both these mentors were up against each other over Diego Costa row and now they are supposed to contradict each other once more.
As expected, Spanish medical team has been asked to examine the severity of the injury and advice when he can play again. According to some medical experts, these kinds of hamstring injuries made any player unable to play at least for one week or even more depending upon the recovery speed. Spanish team’s doctor Oscar Celada told in a Radio interview that “We will assess him in the coming hours to see if he can form part of the squad.
“We know Cesc, I’ve known him since he was 16 years old, I know his professionalism and commitment to the national team, but we are still waiting to assess him.”
Later, Spain coach Vicente del Bosque rather taunted over Chelsea’s use of Fabregas for ninety long minutes against The Reds and added, “The most prudent thing is that he sees the Spanish national team medical staff. It’s not a lack of confidence in the medical staff at his club, but after playing 95 minutes this weekend we would like to see him and examine him.”
Spanish FA also issued a statement over website and mentioned to have conducted a detailed scan to find the harshness of the damage and stated, “Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is out of the squad for the games against Belarus and Germany after undergoing tests and assessments this morning by the national team’s medical services.
“An MRI scan showed a clear improvement compared to that done by his club’s medical services on Sunday.”
