Manchester City is slowing getting into its last year rhythm with a brilliant form they displayed in last few weeks, in fact, they are now on the second spot in the leaderboard –just six points behind the topper Chelsea. Manuel Pellegrini also looks even more confident to defend their league title after an impressive 4-1 triumph against Sunderland yesterday. The hero of the match was 26-year-old Argentine forward Sergio Aguero who first helped his side equalize the early lead and then scored a finisher to earn full three points. If we look at last few games by the Manchester side, they seemed to be ruling not only the field but as well on strategic front and manager is being applauded for his effective strategies in the field especially during critical moments or when they are trailing. With a rejuvenated strength, 61-year-old Chilean is now presenting his side as the real threat in front of the Blues who are still unbeatable in the English topflight. Moreover, there is an another good news for City fans since captain Vincent Kompany, who had been missing the field for a hamstring injury, would be readied to join the team in next Championship league clash with Roma next Wednesday.
Expressing his joy of having been in form back again, Pellegrini said, “I think we are returning to the performances we had last season. I think if we continue playing this way of course we will fight for the title, but I think three or four other teams will also be there. He (Aguero) is an important player but it is not just Sergio Aguero — we play in a way that it is very useful for him to score but it is important for him not just to think about scoring but to play for the team.
“There are a lot of good strikers but I said before the last game that I am sure he is one of the best five players in the world because he is not just scoring, he is playing very well.”
While adding about the availability of his skipper, he said, “Vincent is improving and maybe it is not such a serious injury as we thought at the beginning — but he needs to see the whole week and we will see what happens with him.”
With both Manchester sides coming back into form it would now be interested to see how Chelsea manages to secure its top leaderboard spot.
