Liverpool may not be having a dream season this year but they are somewhat happy to be along with close rivals Tottenham and Southampton for a possible place among top four. Actually, Brendan Rodgers was aspiring for a win over city opponent before yesterday, but once game started Reds failed to even catch the firing pace of Everton’s firemen who looked threatening and hungry for the goals. Thankfully, Anfield side not only managed to limit their shots but as well ended the game in draw though it furthered them to other two sides in the leaderboard. Actually, manager is happy that his side could avoid the defeat that was apparent at once during the game. Calling it a tense game, Irishman said, “I thought we were outstanding over the course of the game. It was a very tense game, but some of our football and the way we defended was outstanding.
“We probably failed around the edge of the box, but it was an outstanding team effort. The least we deserved was a point. That finishing touch and that wee bit of luck you need wasn’t there, but I have no complaints.”
He also talked about the nineteen-year-old promising midfielder Jordon Ibe who impressed everyone with his ball holding technique hence 42-year-old as well praised him and added, “You don’t know until you put a young player in. He only turned 19 in December and he is one who can be a big player. He puts a shift in a works and can only get better and stronger. It was a great to see him perform so well. I have been just waiting to put him in. I called him back because I thought now he can really contribute. He had a great spell on loan, which is what you want from your young players, and he had a good time at a good club but it was time for him to come back and feature.”
Nonetheless what happened to them in the game, manager is confident they can still catch the train if they could continue their good form in next couple of games, he said, “We are still in a good position. It was important to get something out of this game and it is important that we win our home games between now and the end of the season and we can all look forward to the Tottenham game now.”
