Martin Skrtel wants better perks in his contract extension

June 4, 2015 by 888Scoreonline

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is reportedly not happy with the new contract deal Anfield side has offered him. It is informed via Slovakia website that mentioned why 30-year-old is finding contract extension a non-lucrative to him. Actually, Reds faced severe criticisms for few immature decisions they took in the last season that significantly include release of Suarez that cost them entire year. Moreover, their gamble on battery of players in place of Uruguayan international failed miserably putting manager Brendan Rodgers on the hit list of everyone especially after their failure to qualify for the Champions League. Skrtel talked about his experience residing in England in great length and breadth and termed new extension offer as, “It’s unacceptable for me. I think that contracts like this offered to players who are much older than me or the player who had some health problems.

“The contract which has been offered to me is unacceptable, so I did not sign it. I have one year left and there has been some speculation about the interest from other clubs. We will see what happens.”

Accordingly, he is not happy with the pay package Rodgers has offered him and expectedly he was aspiring more for the experience he has earned in his long playing career. Since, he is now among few experienced players left in the side after departure of long-time captain Steven Gerrard; it is evident club bosses would now rethink over their offered terms. Adding about the last league season and why they could only secure a sixth place in the table, Slovak footballer said, “We failed because we did not meet the targets we have set. If we finish in fifth or sixth, it does not matter, we would still not qualified for the Champions League.

“The significant factor was the exit of Luis Suarez [to Barcelona last summer] and too many errors on the field. The squad was big enough. New players arrived and it is not always easy to acclimatize with the new club, so the first half of the season was difficult. The second part has been improved, but the conclusion was we did not reach our targets.”

If we look at the backyard of the club events manager Rodgers is asked to come back into the team despite failing to qualify for the championship league next season which is a surprising move from an English side – maybe they did not find any suitable replacement who could promise them a success in the next season!
