Since Manchester United is the most happening English side these days, there have been several rumors in the air linking many players, who have played for United in the past, to their former baby. The 34-year-old Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one such player who has recently been linked to move back to the Red Devils after his contract with PSG expires this summer and everyone thought he would be the first one under new boss to move back to his former side. But nulling all the rumors about any link to the Old Trafford side, Ibrahimovic has himself made it clear he would not be joining the English side. Moreover, he did not reveal the side he would be heading this summer leaving all the options alive – maybe he is under talks with several clubs and signup with one of them that suit him the best. Actually, everyone misinterpreted his earlier statement where he said, ‘I wish I could play there today’ although he later clarified his next side would not be a Swedish one that made everyone believe he would have been thinking to join back his former side.
But anyways, he has now cleared all the doubts and said briefing a press conference, “I’m too good for the Allsvenskan. I want you to still write a lot of stories so I get excited when I see them. Because I want to see who is making up the best story and, when I am tired of it, I will let you know where I go.”
Last week his agent Mino Raiola also refused to have any truth behind these rumors, he, too, said, “We have not decided anything yet. I think it will be a surprise in the end. Everyone is harping on about only United, United, United. There are some clubs in England, a few clubs in Europe, clubs outside Europe, but everyone assumes that he must go to Manchester United, but it is not true. The club that buys him do not have to pay a transfer fee. This means that Ibrahimovic, who just finished a record season at PSG, can get an extra high salary. He is in a good bargaining position.”
If we rely over Ibrahimovic statement, he may not be interested in an English move considering his age which is the biggest barrier for him and as far other regions are concerned, he may not get any good offer for the same reason. Possibly, he can move to a new league like MLS to keep playing active soccer.
