Every new English manager seems to have been busy strengthening his side ahead of next English season and Manchester City is not an exception. Its new boss, 45-year-old Spanish Pep Guardiola, is also looking to hire every best player in the world hence zeroing his options on all those players whose contract is expiring with their currents sides. Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is one such player who has apparently agreed to play for the Etihad side after signing a four year deal with the new boss. Although, the 25-year-old promising midfielder is out of the game for his dislocated knee cap that happened during the training session, yet City boss did not mind him signing without having any deadline for his availability. According to his current side BVB, he could miss the entire Euro 2016 which means he needs rest for an extended period of time and English side could have hired him on a four-year term hoping to use his services in the latter half of the season. If his closed sources are to be believed, he would be back to play in City’s preseason tour to China while doctors expect he can be ready for the showdown by September.
Anyways, like any other player, Gundogan is as well excited to have an opportunity to play for the side like Manchester City hence he shared his exaggeration via a site post where he said, “I’m thrilled to have signed for Manchester City. When I learned of City’s interest my heart was set on coming here and things have moved very quickly. I have loved my time with Borussia Dortmund and I would like to thank the club and the supporters for the five very happy years I spent there.
“They gave me a platform to play on and I became a better player because of the belief, patience and trust they showed in me. Now I have a new challenge and that is to achieve great things with City. The opportunity to work with a coach like Pep Guardiola is something I am really looking forward to and I am flattered to be the first signing the Club has made this summer.
“I can promise the City fans I will give everything to help us win titles both in England and the Champions League. These are exciting times. I have my best years ahead of me and I think we can achieve great things together. I can’t wait to begin this new chapter in my career.”
