Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter is back in the business again with his well-known tone and blames European soccer for adopting unfair play practices. He openly lambasts European watchdog for failing to control the ethics of the game by adding that most of Championship games were fixed using the ‘hot and cold balls’ method. Moreover, talking about his own eighteen-year regime residing on the top of the FIFA, there has never been a single game that was fixed but as UEFA games are concerned, no one can say anything. Possibly, he is the only one who believes all the FIFA games played during his regime were authentic since investigators have different opinion about his tenure residing on top FIFA post. Anyways, Sepp Blatter could be exhausting his disappointment after being out of the game for so long with no hope to return back either hence he is issuing exaggerated media statements to be in the front lines.
Presenting himself as the only honest person, who should have pointed out the UEFA wrongdoings when he was with FIFA, 80-year-old Swiss administrator said, “There was only one person who had that power in Europe. Artemio Franchi used to do that for the club tournament draws. I did not do that for the World Cup in 1978. But with my magic, I could do anything. Once again, I am joking. The draw was honest down to the last detail.
“I never touched the balls, something that other people did. Of course, you can rig them by making them hot or cold.”
Precisely adding about the modus operandi of fixing the European games, Swiss explained, “Of course it is technically possible. This did not happen in FIFA but I have been witness to draws at the level of Europe, at which it happened. But never in FIFA. Of course it can be done but in my case it never happened, never. Before the draw you put the balls in the freezer. Then when you touch them you can determine which ones are cold or hot. By touching them you know what you have.”
Talking about his longest running tenure at the helm and if investigation running against him would yield any result, he said, “(I am)not corrupt. They have tried to find something on me but no one has found that I have violated any Swiss law. Swiss laws and any criminal law.”
