Every time a team wins a game it celebrates its victory but sometimes a draw is like a win hence such team doesn’t hesitate celebrating it no matter what others have to say about their celebrations. Iceland is one such side who recently drew their Euro 2016 game against Portuguese. Since it was the first time they could restrict the firing forward line led by the Ronaldo, it is more than a full-fledged victory for them hence they celebrated it in style taunting their rivals that how they restricted their world class forward line. Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo did not miss the opportunity and lambasted the whole Iceland side for playing defensive in the game hence Portuguese couldn’t win the game. Even experts believe that Portuguese should have won the game citing the form of Iceland hence it is grossly being taken as the defeat of Ronaldo who was leading the forward line.
After looking the jubilant opponents and how they were cheering over the draw, Ronaldo got provoked and called them low profile opponents citing their approach not to win the game. Reacting over the exaggerations Iceland shown after the game, Real Madrid starlet, said, “I thought they’d won the Euros the way they celebrated at the end, it was unbelievable. When they don’t try to play and just defend, defend, defend, this in my opinion shows a small mentality and are not going to do anything in the competition.” Moreover, adding about their own gameplay and if their performance was appreciable, he said, “It was a little bit frustrating, we tried hard to win the game, Iceland didn’t try anything. They scored a goal, they created two chances in the 90 minutes and otherwise they got every player behind the ball, they put the bus in the net, so it’s difficult when one team don’t try but Portugal try and play football and try to win the game.
“It’s a bit frustrating for us but it’s just the beginning for us, we’re not worried about that. If you see Spain, France, they are the strongest teams in the tournament and had a difficult time to win their games so for us it was tough but we are confident. We’re 100 percent confident we’ll win our next game.
“The rankings don’t mean anything. We just try our best, keep the ball all the time and Iceland didn’t try anything, they were just ‘defend, defend, defend’ and playing on the counter-attack. It was a lucky night for them. We should have three point but we are OK.”
