Brazilian defender Andre Santos became more popular for not so good reasons in Arsenal’s premium league clash with Manchester United when he swapped his t-shirt with his ex-teammate Robin van Persie in public, especially when his team was trailing by 1-0. It was not the first time when Brazilian midfielder showed his not so professional attitude in field, perhaps his out of form has now become a major concern for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who now seems to be determined to sell him out in coming transfer window, if he manages to find a buyer. It is also learned that Santos will surely be axed from Gunner’s final squad for their upcoming Champions League match against Schalke on Tuesday night. However, Wenger backed him publicly by saying that his T shirt swap in the middle is not commendable but it did not contribute to his side’s bad performance. What he said about all this was, “I spoke about that but I don’t want to make too much of a big story of that,” he told reporters on Monday. I believe that was not the right thing to do at all, but that is not an explanation for our bad performance on Saturday.”
However, behind the scene, Wenger is reportedly very angry over the way Brazilian defender is focusing on his game both on and off field. Perhaps, his bad form has made experts think should they include him in worst Arsenal’s players list or not. Many newspapers have already rewarded him one out of ten starts for his performance and behavior, so there is not so much of hope for him to stay with gunners. He had even been banned for driving for 12 months in last September but his ban could also not make him concentrate on his performance.
Anyways, there is parallel news in circulation and that’s a Turkish football club Fenerbahce is interested in re-signing him. Santos has already played for Turkish club in the past and has as many as 10 goals to his credit in his 52 league appearances for Fenerbahce. His first sign up amount was €6 million, but this time, this figure could be much lower coz of his present form and goodwill. Anyways, his career seems to be ended with gunners and whatever he will do for Fenerbahce, if he gets a deal there, will secure his retirement only.
