Soccer is an emotional game of sport, perhaps, it is one of the only sports where fans retaliate using various tricks. Traditionally, on-field arguments were very common to see then came an era where crowd started becoming violent, but after the arrival of technology and fast zooming security cameras such incidents lessened. More interestingly, now, it is not about what happened on the field, it is all about its aftermaths. Take the latest incident that happened on Sunday in a Premier League match between Manchester United and Manchester City; the match was comprehensively won by United, but how a fan from the crowd retaliated is something to better be discussed first. A fan threw a 2p coin on Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand’s face, and unfortunately that coin hit him near his eyes, and he started bleeding immediately. Whole world saw this, but unfortunately, more embarrassing news came later via some Facebook posts between Chelsea’s Ashley Cole family members.
Reportedly, his mother and brother both joyfully praised such an initiative by a fan; perhaps, they jubilantly said to offer him a Medal. His brother Metty posted on his Facebook account, “So happy Rio got hit in the face today when he tried to give it kissing his badge!! Straight in the eye!! Made my day. They’ll show it on MoTD sooooo funny lol.” His mother Sue also added her remarks over previous post by saying, “Bloody missed that, ha ha ha”, before adding: “Give the fan that threw it a medal!!!”
These posts from a prominent player’s family spread into the world in no time, and next morning, press gathered in front of their house to known their point of views on the attack. But surprisingly, his mother rejected all the allegations to have posted these comments, perhaps she said, “Who has put that on? I don’t know who has done that. It wasn’t me.” Media reporters also tried to contact Metty, but he was unavailable to comment. So, in short, they refused to accept that they had posted those posts and were completely in a denial mood. At the moment, police is investigating the CCT footages to track down the culprit who threw coin on the United’s centre-back. On the other side, Rio Ferdinand took it light heartedly, perhaps he said, “it could at least have been a pound coin!”
So, controversy seems to be ended now coz both the family members have denied of posting such posts which were also removed in just five minutes. Now, it’s up to the cyber experts to locate the source of these posts.
