Jack Wilshere to sign a new five-year deal with Arsenal

Jack Wilshere

Once a ruling English club Arsenal is now passing through a bad phase, and its manager Wenger is trying hard to break Arsenal’s losing jinx at league titles. One of the brightest talents of Gunners, who has been absent from the field coz of his persisting injuries, has now been resigned by the club by extending his contract for another five year term that too at an amazing £20million price figure. This is like a bumper Christmas gift for young star of English national team who, despite his absent from the field, has got such a lucrative contract term with Arsenal. Since, his current contract with North London side is still remaining; hence new contract is said to be taken into force from next month. The bad luck of Arsenal is known to everyone where it could not win even a single title since almost eight years now. Consequently, Arsene Wenger is also passing through a bad phase where he is being criticized by everyone for losing his command on the game.

Looking at recent failures at various leagues, Jack Wilshere is confident to provide a much needed confident to the side. He is young and enthusiastic at this time, yet the only concern with him is his injuries which could again be a risky factor for him. Wilshere said over this, “I’m talking to the club and I will probably be committing my future to them in the next couple of weeks. I know the team are going through a bad spell at the moment but that’s like any team. That’s not a problem for me nor is it a problem if the fans are booing us. We have to change that ourselves.”

He also added, “Over the past few years the top players have probably thought they don’t see a bright future at Arsenal but it’s different for them. They were a bit older than me. I’m 20. I’ve still got a long way to go in my career. Players like Robin are older and maybe he thought: “I haven’t got time any more”. We’ve got other young players like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs. In the next three or four years they can become top players and we can challenge for everything.

“With young players, there is an enthusiasm that you don’t get with older ones. It’s natural that you feel excited about the future. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not just going to happen. We will have to work hard. We’re not where we want to be yet.”

So, pressure is on Wilshere to justify his high paying amount and his matches’ winning performances to make a decisive change in club’s future league positions.
