Real Sociedad acknowledges fans by screening their names on T-shirts

December 22, 2012 by 888Scoreonline

Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad is having a dream run in La Liga series this season where it is still unbeaten even after playing seven games. This is one of their best performances in Spanish football league in many years. Leave apart what they are doing on the field; let’s talk about one of their elite initiatives where Donostia based club is acknowledging its fans by wearing t-shirts appearing names of its members. This is one of the most innovative ideas to say ‘thank you’ to fans across the globe. Clubs around the world prefer to design their t-shirts with sponsors’ logo and tags, but Sociedad has probably become the first club who has taken a step to recognize its fans in a unique way. Since, the club has more than 25000 members, final names to be printed on t-shirts will be chosen at random. Moreover, another batch of members’ names has also been finalized to be shown by the players in a TV commercial. Hence, there would be 44 lucky members of the club, 22 names of them would be featured in a TV commercial while rest 22 will be viewed by millions of spectators through live broadcasting of matches being played by Real Sociedad.

Some are taking it as an intelligent move to surge in the revenues, coz, practically, it is very hard for a majority of La Liga clubs to find a sponsor; hence if they start showcasing members names on their shirts, they can actually sell their membership. This is also a brainy move to increase the revenues by a club if there is no sponsor in line up for it. Other examples of such initiatives are Valencia and Sevilla where Valencia printed players t-shirts with club’s twitter handle along with Sevilla who made it possible for anyone to see his picture on players T-shirts at a fee.

In current La Liga series, Real Sociedad extended its unbeaten run when it defeated Sevilla by 2-1 on Thursday. Arsenal striker Vela opened the scoring for Sociedad when he scored his seventh goal of the season in the 18th minute. In the beginning of the second half, Chilean defender Gary Medel leveled the score but substitute de la Bella again scored the winning goal for Sociedad. As the Philippe Montanier’s side is rising in the leaderboard table, it is getting the strong chances of getting lots of new members after its T-shirts-wearing-members name run!
