As the English club Chelsea is surging in its position in the EPL’s leaderboard, it is more aggressively showing interest in signing best talent around. Under its hunt for next month’s transfer window, European champion has now targeted Newcastle United striker Demba Ba for a probable transfer deal. If it does what it wants to be, Ba will be the third player Chelsea has shown interest in. The only glitch in the contract is the price tag; Chelsea has offered a £7.5 million along with agents’ fee, but Ba’s representative seems not interested in the amount being offered by the Blues. Reportedly, a meeting was held between Chelsea’s representatives and Ba’s agent but ended without reaching upon an agreement late night. However, both parties show their curiosity to reach a final settlement. When asked about the meeting, Chelsea’s temporary manager Rafa Benitez refused to comment anything as of now.
In English Premier League, Chelsea has ended this year with a win over Everton on Sunday, and this win raised its position to third spot in the leaderboard. Recently, club has sold its Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool at an attractive price of £12m, so Chelsea is in need of more boosts at the center; hence Ba is a perfect match under the present scenario. Benítez is also taking every step very careful until there is a deal finalized. He vigilantly issued his statement when asked about the potential new entry to its squad, he said, “We do not talk about our business in public. My job is to prepare the team for games and they will let me know. Ba plays for another team so I do not like to talk about it.”
The contract of Frank Lampard, the scorer of both the goals in Sunday clash with Everton, is also going to expire soon; hence he is also looking for a suitable home for him. His brilliant performance in the last match keeps Chelsea’s hope alive to contend top position holders Manchester United and Manchester City. Moreover, these days, Chelsea is proving its strength by chasing the leads which is a clear indicator of its high boosted moral via recent wins. On Sunday, Everton took the lead in just 63rd second, despite, Frank Lampard made a thrilling comeback when he first leveled the lead and then fired a winning shot in the 42nd and 72nd minutes. So, Benítez looks very much confident to leave an impact in English Premier League by his determined initiatives on all fronts.
