You can call it just another incident where Tottenham Hotspur fans were targeted by a group of hooligans – this time in Lyon. The English club confirmed about such an incident where three of its fans sustained minor injuries. Looking at the injuries, it looks to be a minor incident, but on the contrary, the attack was severe enough and aimed towards Spurs fans only. Is it also a mare incident that attackers were belonged to Nazis who also gave Nazi salutes during their attack? This is not the first time Spurs fans have been targeted in such an incident. A group of their fans were also targeted in similar attack in Rome back in November when they were celebrating their game against Lazio. These anti-Semitic attacks look to be organized and intentionally spreading a massage. Tottenham issued a statement where it said, “Club officials attended an incident last night in Lyon. A group of around 50 people confronted fans. The situation was dealt with and arrests were made within the hour. Three fans sustained minor injuries and received prompt medical assistance. Spurs officials and stewards will be in the city throughout the day, along with matchday French police ahead of kick-off.”
According to the eyewitnesses, there were around 50 hooligans bearing black masks. They smashed everywhere broke doors, threw chairs here and there, and thoroughly cracked down all the glasses in a pub named The Smoking Dog. Thugs actually attacked the pub two times: first at 10.18pm and again they returned back later to damage the pub more severally. However, according to the pub owner; they were around 20-25 in number and behave very badly to the peoples enjoying Champions league match there. He said, “They threw projectiles through the windows. There was a stand-off. They didn’t get into the bar. Then it calmed down. Then they came back a second time and it all started again. There were three injured Tottenham fans taken away by ambulance. One of them had a head injury. I’m not sure how bad it was.”
Another eyewitness, who doesn’t want to reveal his name, also said, “There were 50 who attacked in the first wave and 25 in the second. It’s a pretty scary thing when you’re confronted by people doing Nazi salutes. A lit flare was thrown through the window as well as the heavy weight, the kind that’s used on terraces to hold down umbrellas. It was terrifying. I’ve never seen anything like it. They threw iron stools through the windows as well.”
