A face saving tie between Newcastle United and Manchester City

October 30, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

Some soccer pros are more sentimental than others and relate their losses to ego; hence these top administrators always try to bounce back with a style whenever they were defeated in an unexpected match. Manchester City and Newcastle United are two English clubs with lots of respects with them and when these two high profile giants could not perform as expected this season, their managers are trying their best to response with a brilliant gameplay. They both lost their Sunday league clashes and their next meet is with each other on Tuesday at St James’ Park in Capital One Cup. This match is going to be a face saving afford for both the sides, especially for City who has long been labeling itself as the next league winner. Alan Pardew, the Newcastle manager, understands the importance of just one win over City hence he is taking this match more seriously than he should be; perhaps he wants to revive all the emotions attached with their performance in this match. He said about the match, “The derby was a really demanding game on the legs and on the emotions. We’re disappointed for the fans and ourselves. But if we could beat Manchester City, it would get people talking because then we’d be down to the last eight and it all becomes a bit serious then.

“Any team in the Premier League can consider this a tournament they can win. For the Champions League clubs maybe it’s a little down on the agenda but it’s high on our agenda. For us this year it is a priority. We want to win a trophy for our fans. If we could get past Manchester City it would be a great way to put away the disappointment of Sunderland, but that’s easier said than done.”

Though, he accepts City is a way stronger than his eleven internationals still he is confident they can be a game changer for Pellegrini’s army of twenty four brilliant international starlets, he added, “It’s still tough to beat them. They have a squad of 24 international players so we’re coming up against 11 internationals even if it is a slightly weakened City team.

“When they turn on their turbo chargers, with the players they’ve got, they’re almost impossible to deal with. But they’re vulnerable as well and particularly away from home results haven’t been as good as they would like.”

So, Tuesday will the DDay for both these self-claimed league winners; let’s see how ball rolls in the ground!
