While Brazil world cup protest is being watched by the whole world, especially by those fans who want to visit this part of the world for upcoming mega soccer event, a problem with 2018 world cup seems to be raising its head. Yes, we are talking about racism and how old this sickness has been in USSR. This time, an incident happened at 78 Spartak Moscow on Wednesday where a group of hooligans demonstrated how dangerous they can be if their demands are not met. Apparently, many black players have said recently that they will boycott the 2018 world soccer event if Russian government does not ensure a fair treatment to them. Few days ago, a Championship match between league club Manchester City and Russian club CSKA brought into the notice the ground realities and how wider the gap is between Blacks and Whites in Russia. Apparently, City midfielder Yaya Toure was racially abused via nonstop chants and UEFA disciplinary committee later asked Russian club to ban a part of the stadium. This hooliganism was to oppose of UEFA action to close the doors for this second tier match.
Actually, this incident has happened just before world cup organizers have a due meeting with FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke who is on a tour to have a look on the world cup progress. According to a news published in a Russian newspaper, “Everyone now understands: if this mayhem created by the fans is not ended then it is going to be the end of football in our country. Alas, we have got so accustomed to deviating from the norms of civilised society, that we no longer see, hear, or notice this. But it hits foreigners in the eyes.”
The pictures of clash between fans of both the sides made everyone stun to see many of these mobsters were holding Nazi banners. In fact, the second half was more illuminating coz these trouble makers clashed with police also and security officials have to detain many of them. Later, Spartak Moscow refused to take the responsibility of all this and said via a statement, “Our club cannot take on the role of the state. We cannot make arrests and put the criminals in prison.”
State government labeled it as a preplanned outburst and said, “We believe that it was a planned provocation. We have no complaints about the Shinnik fans, all the provocations came from Spartak fans.”
