After few ups and downs in the last few seasons; Italian footballer Alessandro Matri joined back AC Milan where he started his international career. He was formally released by Juventus which also ends Goeba’s summer transfer dealings of preseason. Actually, the deal was in discussion for quite some time; perhaps everyone had been fed up of knowing that he could join Milan and Friday was the day when Serie A club formally announced its new player via club’s twitter and TV channel. Ten years ago, Matri, Milan academy product, started his career at an age of eighteen against Piacenza and now when his reappointment news flashed in the media, conflicting views were seen across the board, like a fan displayed a banner bearing, “Matri: no thank you! The defence and midfield need strengthening and you shouldn’t be thinking of anything else,” which indicates that a large section of fans has rather a gut feeling about his selection. The deal amount and tenure are not yet revealed officially though some sources say it could be anywhere around €11 million which looks descent considering his instable form in last few seasons.
Apart from this, there is another movement at Milan camp, and that is, Kevin-Prince Boateng has completed all the formalities including medical to leave Rossoneri, which means, Matri will have an important role at the front line. Boateng joined German club Schalke on a four-year deal at around €15 million. Anyway, 29-year-old forward is happy to come back where he started his soccer journey, he said on club’s official website, “It’s been ten years and I’ve a lot of experience. It’s a great feeling to come back to where you played as a boy.
“I know a lot of people here and the coach is someone I’ve worked with. There are many positive aspects. I spoke to Allegri yesterday and it’s up to me to get a place on the starting line-up but I’m ready to play. There was some interest from other clubs but as soon as Milan came in for me, I only wanted to come here. It was an objective for me and now it’ll be a great starting point.”
Similarly, Vice President Adriano Galliani also welcomed him via another statement that says, “Matri returns after 10 years and will wear the number nine shirt. His arrival reminds me of when Pippo Inzaghi came here 12 years ago, he was about the same age as Alessandro is now.”
