AC Milan’s most talked about high profile coach Massimiliano Allegri has announced his retirement after current season and reason he told is his failure to secure a good position for Milan in both Serie A and Championship League. If we look at their current season’s performance in both domestic and European leagues; they are 13th at home with around 27 points gap from leader Juventus and on European front, they are 17 points outside of the CL places which is not in the comfort zone of a man who won them Serie A title in 2011. This season is going to witness some high profile changes at the top, coz after Allegri’s apparent resignation, general manager Ariedo Braida is also said to be leaving his post. It has been more than 25 years passed by Braida served the Italian club; in fact, he contributed in as many as eight Scudettos and five European Cups for Rossoneri. Confirming his exit from San Siro, 46-year-old coach said, “Of course this is my last Christmas at AC Milan. I do not know who will be the new coach, that is a problem that does not concern me.”
Who will replace him is not yet clear, but according a section of media, former Milan midfielder, Clarence Seedorf, can join Milan at undisclosed terms, however, neither he nor Milan has yet confirmed on these rumors. Like any legendary soccer pro, Allegri wants to finish his long serving stay at San Siro with a positive note; hence he is very hopeful with their clash with Spezia on January 16 and positively wants to score well in the Europa League. He added describing their chances, “We did what we needed, in three seasons, the team and I, we got the results we were asked to. Unfortunately now the third place is far away, but there is the Coppa Italia, which becomes a good option to leave AC Milan to remain in Europe.”
Since, his departure is not yet cleared from club bosses, Club website issued a statement thanking outgoing manager Ariedo Braida only that reads as, “AC Milan thanks Ariedo Braida, who now leaves the company. He has been an invaluable collaborator for a long time, characterised by prestigious results thanks to his important work.
“After 28 years at Milan, he has the colours in his soul. The streets of Ariedo Braida and Milan are separated today, after so many triumphs and many players acquired in recent years thanks to his insights and observations. He was the first to see Marco van Basten and Andriy Shevchenko live, who shortly afterwards, thanks to his advice, joined the Rossoneri.”
