There is a say in soccer that form comes and goes by while class stays there forever and it holds true for legendry players who fail to deliver in any particular season. Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney is one such player who is not able to recollect his form this year and this drought of nets is forcing English media to start raising questions over his entitlement to be in the side while neither United or Three Lions manager has until said anything about Rooney form or if they are anywhere near thinking of resting him. He is the same player who scored his fiftieth goal playing for the English side last September. However, last United game at Goodison Park gave some kind of good news to United fans when he netted third club goal in 3-0 win and fans are taking it timely return of form of their captain when his side needs him the most. Showing complete support to their captain, teammates are happy to have been under guidance of Rooney and midfielder Ander Herrera is one such player who openly praises his manager and calls him one of the all-time best English players.
The 26-year-old Spaniard added, without being over exaggerated, “Wayne is our leader. He is the best English player in English history and we are lucky to have him. When he fights like he did today we can be very proud of him. He has always helped me a lot. When I have played I think I can be happy. You always have to give everything and I did that. But if I want to be a top player I have to play like this always.”
When asked about how far United can go this year with available resources, Herrera looked quite relieved with the last show by Red Devils and added, “If we want to be champions then this is not enough we have to keep on playing like this. Now we have to play against Man City in the Premier League and if we want to be the champions then we have to keep playing like this. This was the way we had to react after Arsenal. The first 25 minutes were fantastic. We controlled the game and created chances. We didn’t let them play and they are a good team. So we can be proud, we can be happy but we don’t have too much time to enjoy it.”
