Injuries seem to be raining on this English Premier League where some of the finest soccer players are getting injured one after other. An injury to a star player has always been a blow for its team, especially if he has been hired on loan, coz then; player’s original owner loses him without any reason. Last Wednesday, in an EPL match between Manchester United and West Ham United, Hammers striker Andy Carroll got an unexpected knee injury which is likely to rule him out for eight weeks minimum. It could be a major blow for both: West Ham United and Liverpool, the owner of Carroll. This season, West Ham United hired him on loan from Liverpool where he joined after a mounting £35min fees in 2011. His twisted knee could take around two months to fully recover and to play him again for Ham United – hopefully. West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has ruled out any possibility of him to play its next match against Chelsea on Saturday. He told to Sky Sports, “Andy Carroll’s injury is pretty severe. We weren’t expecting it to be as severe as it is. It’s going to be about six to eight weeks. It’s a blow for us and Andy. We must soldier on. There is not a lot you can do about trauma injuries. The lads out there have plenty of experience but we are a bit light on the bench.”
Actually, Carroll has been like a surplus for Liverpool for some time now, and that’s why, they decided to transfer him on loan to east London club, but they did not know that their loan revenue could cost them his absence from the field for another two months. For now, there is no effective loss for Liverpool, coz it doesn’t require him for the time being, but as the injuries are coming one by one, and if any player out of its main striker’s line gets injured, it would surely miss Carroll.
Actually, Carroll’s aggressive style of play is a matter of concern for him coz the way he lays down himself is something that is causing frequent injuries to him. He already faced a one month’s rest from the field earlier this season coz of his hamstring injury; perhaps he could only play 12 matches in current English Premier League for his persisting unavailability. Let’s hope his early return!
