This Premiere League season has not been a good season for Arsenal in years, as it is only found itself placed on the tenth spot after playing 15 matches this season, and more importantly, it could only win five of them. The drought of wins is the first in Wenger’s long running career too; perhaps, luck is so bad for Arsenal this year that it could not even win a descent number of home played matches. Moreover, this is not the end of nightmare for Arsenal, coz its chairman Peter Hill-Wood has suffered a heart attack after their home defeat from Swansea by 0-2. Though, he is recovering very fast, but a heart attack has ever been a major blow for a senior soccer official especially in a crucial time wherein Arsenal is passing through now. Reportedly, 76-year Old’s heart attack followed after a bout of pneumonia as said by the club’s website. The former vice chairman of Hambros Bank; Peter Wood has been the chairman of one of the key clubs in English Premier League since 1982.
Club issued a statement on its website titled, ‘Peter Hill-Wood taken ill’ that informed the world about a massive blow to the club, it reads as, “Everyone at Arsenal Football Club sends their support and best wishes to Chairman Peter Hill-Wood who is recovering after suffering a heart attack, following a bout of pneumonia.
“Peter was taken ill at home on Friday and is currently being treated in hospital. He is making a good recovery.
“The Club wishes Peter a full and speedy return to health and our thoughts are with him and his family at this time.”
Statement also added that he is getting support and well wishes from all over the world and that’s why he is making a good recovery at the moment. Club also wishes him early recovery and deep concerns to his health and to his family who would have been passing through a trauma as well. Notably, his family is known for giving three chairmen to Arsenal, first one was his grandfather Samuel, who served the gunners in two different spells, i.e., between 1929 and 1936 and from 1946 to 1949, and second one was his father Denis who served the club between 1962 and 1982. After his father’s demise in 1982, he joined the club as chairman which he holds until today. We all wish him good health along with a sparkling English Premium League.
