It has been the season of glory for Arsenal’s one of the most outspoken manager Arsene Wenger who ended their ten-year title drought by winning FA Cup. It was the journey of glorious days where he saw some of memorable moments along with bitter taste of looking the dominance of some big sides over governing bodies. Can anyone forget how he openly spoke against UEFA when they relented to act against top sides violating the FFPs? Yesterday, when he along with his team held a victory march; thousands joined him and applauded his great contribution in Gunners history. No team can survive for long if it has not been in the title race for a long period of time and Anfield side has been one of some topnotch clubs who were missing the top spot in every top league for some time now, but this year proved to be the mega successful for both manager as well the whole team. Rewards are also parallel to his feat, in fact, he was given an extension at more lucrative terms and a solid entry to Championship league next year. Club supporters through satisfied but still have some kind of hitch for missing the League title but anyways they still ended their League campaign residing among the top four – much ahead of other heavyweights like Manchester United. Though, it was not the first triumph for Wenger in the FA Cup but it was obviously a long missing title for his side.
Wenger named himself among the few notables who mentored the side for five FA Cup title wins; his earlier feats were in 1998, 2002, 2003, 2005, and now in 2014. During the victory march, French football manager was looking more than satisfied thanks for their stunning performance in the FA Cup final where they were once trailing by two goals and eventually not only shredded the lead but also scored one extra in the extended time.
Talking about the pressure he has been passing through during this English season, he said, “It is a relief and happiness because we were under severe pressure to win and we didn’t start well. We responded well after a demonstration of how not to start a cup final. In the end it finished well so it is a big minute of happiness and we waited a long time for that. The happiness is linked sometimes with the suffering and the time you have to wait.
“It (This victory) was more important than all the others. We have made twice the double but we were not under the pressure we were under. It was an important moment in the life of this team. To lose today would have been a major setback. To win is a good platform to come back stronger next year.”
