Arsenal win over Swansea City gave Wenger more reasons to joy

November 1, 2015 by 888Scoreonline

Arsenal

It was possibly the best ever game for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger when his team netted a record 2000th goal under his regime serving the Emirate side for 19 long years. The win at Liberty Stadium was more than a triumph as it showed how a low profile team can prove to be the biggest threat for other title contenders in a league season and righty so they are fast catching toppers of the league leaderboard with just four goals difference and equal points to their kitty. Before start of the game, Wenger used to be under lots of pressure for his fifth consecutive premier league win and when Olivier Giroud gave his side initial lead during early moments of the game, it was no turning back for the visitors and they kept exploring the opportunities with proven results. The game was precisely the complete reversal to the last season faceoff between the two when Swansea beat Arsenal at home and this year too, Garry Monk‘s men were supposed to win the first penalty when Per Mertesacker tried to handle Gylfi Sigurdsson‘s free-kick during first half but decisive win gave Frenchman more reasons to joy after an emphatic show of his team.

Monk reaction post game was also disheartening after not securing a single win in last four home games, he said, “It’s disappointing and we feel hard done by because there were a lot of positives. In the first half especially we were the better team, playing good football and creating good chances. But the first two goals are disappointing and the mistakes we made you can’t do against anybody, let alone a side with the quality of Arsenal.

“I’ve seen fouls given pretty much every time when Fabianski comes, but the referee decided it wasn’t and perhaps Fab could have punched it. I’ve played in many games where whenever the keeper is touched a foul is given, but I don’t expect things to go for us. I also knew it was handball at the time but I couldn’t tell if it was intentional. But it clearly is, he moves his hand towards the ball to stop it.

“So I feel for the players because we were much better, much more like ourselves.”

While Wenger also issued his point of views over Monk remarks over penalty, he said, “I didn’t see a foul, maybe I missed something and need to watch it. The three points was the most important thing today and it was good to keep a clean sheet. It was a different game after we scored the first goal.”
