Arsenal has ever been one of the strongest contenders in English Premier League, but since last few seasons it is fast losing its charm which is worrying its diehard fans who always love to recall them ‘The Invincibles.’ Actually, they are missing a league trophy from their collection since ten years as they won last silverware back in 2003-04 and they are since fighting to reclaim their glory. This year, things can be different; at least Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain thinks so. The 20-year-old midfielder says there is an unexplained vibe within the team that they will again triumph the English topflight – after a gap of a decade. Last ten years have seen lots of changes in Gunners right from their infrastructure to backend strategies which are now mentored by none other than master craftsman Arsène Wenger who himself can refine the confidence level of any team. This season, they could not have a dream start but they made a quick comeback with back to back wins in next matches, moreover they … [Read more...]
Aston Villa boss faces penalty for his rant on referees
Exaggeration has ever been a part of soccer; perhaps team officials take every little decision, which went against them, as a conspiracy to debar them. Sometimes, these officials lost their control and start condemning everything related to a match, including referees, opponents, and all. This is something that recently happened with Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert when he lost an important match to Chelsea by 2-1. Their performance throughout the match was commendable; everyone saw this, but there were two moments when, according to him, they should have been awarded penalties: one is when ball touched John Terry's arm in a confrontation with Gabby Agbonlahor and second when Branislav Ivanovic deliberately elbowed Christian Benteke. According to Lambert, Ivanovic should have been sent off for his nonsense behavior; a mistake which cost them a match coz the defender later scored the winner for Blues. The Scot specifically questioned the performance of referee Kevin Friend and his … [Read more...]
A building path between Israel and Palestine soccer relations
Israel and Palestine are the two States with no so good democratic relations, but that doesn’t mean their soccer players do not want to play with each other - they do - but border restrictions often cause a great distress for both of them especially for Palestinian players who want to visit an Israeli occupied area for soccer events frequently. Last month, many players including FIFA officials were denied on the border to enter within Israel, later Palestinian football association asked for world governing body’s intervention into the matter; perhaps they even requested for a ban. FIFA president Sepp Blatter has ever been a person who loves to expend relations via sports not to contract them and that is why he has promised on many global events that he wants to see both these nations play each other without any political barrier; now his dreams look to be coming true coz he could successfully hold a meeting between both Israeli FA chairman and his Palestinian counterpart at FIFA … [Read more...]
Greg Dyke loses hopes for 2014 World Cup
Soccer fraternity is often known for their exaggerated statements where everyone claims himself to be better than his competitors. Sometimes, it is the part of a strategy for brainy minds where they try to demoralize their contenders before the beginning of a mega soccer event. Next year, Brazil is going to host the biggest soccer extravaganza: World Cup and each team will try to overcome others either via their in-field performances or via a psychological pressure which is being built up through their preplanned statements. When it comes to playing a mind game, England officials edge over everyone coz they are the most experienced ones in this game hence they know how to play outside of a soccer field. This time, you can call it a part of the long term strategy or rather a realistic appraisal of what you have, but English FA chairman Greg Dyke seems to be demoralized as far their winning chances are concerned in Brazil next year. He sees no reason his team can triumph over other … [Read more...]
Arsenal spends a record £42.4m to hire Real Mesut Ozil
Records seem to be breaking these days as far priciest buying are concerned. Just a day after Real Madrid book Spurs’ midfielder Bale at an unprecedented amount, Arsenal also improved its own record by hiring German midfielder Mesut Ozil at a £42.4m fee which is more than club’s previous best of £15m that they paid to Zenit St Petersburg for Andrey Arshavin back in 2009. This is not a mare coincident that Ozil is being snatched from the Real’s den by the Premier League club; perhaps it is a well-planned long term strategy by Arsène Wenger. Gunners looked to be exaggerated at the end of transfer window coz they also hired a new goalie Emiliano Viviano along with a failed attempt to convince Chelsea to sign their striker Demba Ba. Besides this, there were more high profile unsuccessful attempts as well especially that of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez. Actually, final day of the transfer window was full of surprising events where Real maintained its lead for highest paying club in the … [Read more...]
