EPL runner-up Manchester City’s new manager is trying to do some kind of experiment these days by hiring players in their expiring days. This is perhaps against the raining strategy in soccer these days where clubs all around the world are hiring young players at rather a cheaper price. Though, an experience thirty plus player also costs much lesser but still it is a gamble to bet on someone after his glorious days are gone. Spanish club Real Madrid is one of the few top rated clubs who generally do not sell their peak players, but present case is slightly different, coz according to rumors in the media, EPL club is interested in Real’s thirty-year old center defender Pepe. This is a surprising bid by Pellegrini especially looking at upcoming Champions league yet it’s not entirely unbelievable coz City has already done this with other buying this summer. Like, they have already signed 28-year old Fernandinho along with Alvaro Negredo who is also a 27-year old player. The unexpected … [Read more...]
Brazil gains on FIFA rankings after Confederation win
Brazil is the hailing ruler of soccer these days by making an impressive progress everywhere. After winning Confederation cup, especially five consecutive games in the world event, it has gained thirteen places on FIFA’s just released rankings. The ranking are based on team’s performance in the last month and some of the significant gainers in them are US, who won perfect four matches in the month of June; similarly, England is now out of top 10 best teams in the world after miserable performance in both world cup qualifiers and confederation Cup; perhaps they are out of top 10 for the first time since 2008 when they failed in Euro qualification campaign. Despite losing in the confederation cup final, Spain is still on the top followed by Germany. Third place is taken over by first timer Colombia who has achieved its highest position till date while third and four confederation cup finishers Italy and Uruguay are on six and twelve spots respectively. Argentina and Netherland are … [Read more...]
Spain overcome Mexico to reach Under-20 quarterfinals
It was rather a bad luck for Mexico or should we say a brilliant comeback from Spain when they came from behind and overcome their pre-quarterfinalist by 2-1 in the Under-20 world cup. Spain, who is already Under-19 European champion, will join other confirmed quarterfinalists France and Uzbekistan in the last eight. The match began keeping Spain as the favorite but when Arturo Gonzalez’s brilliant diagonal shot could not be stopped by Daniel Sotres, it was 1-0 on the scoreboard in Mexico’s favor. We have already seen in Confederation Cup final that what an initial lead can mean for a team, and here, when Mexico got the initial lead, it was like a repeat of Confed. cup final for Spain where they were in a similar situation after Fed’s initial goal. But today was the day for European champions and they showed the world why they are the top ranking team in the world. Soon after an initial trail, Spanish strikers took the game more aggressively by their wonderful shot passes theory, but … [Read more...]
Barcelona looking for more summer buying
Money rains in soccer and here a cash-rich club can always afford to spend hundreds of million dollars for strengthening its team and Barcelona is perhaps one of the few biggest rich soccer clubs who can lure anyone with their extra zeroed paychecks. Everyone remembers how it defeated its arch rival Real Madrid in a race to buy sensational Brazilian striker Neymar though they had to pay around sixty millions euro for him. For any other club, a paramount buying like this would have blocked any further buying, but this doesn’t hold true with Spanish giant. Reportedly, Barcelona think-tank is now planning to reinforce their defense a bit by hiring one or more midfielders. Actually, Barca has had a best striking force in last few seasons especially dominated by Messi in the last one; in fact, Barca is among the few teams who have fired a record number of goals. By winning four titles in last five years they are having a dream spell still they have conceded 40 goals in last 38 played … [Read more...]
No tear gas in WC matches; FIFA tells organizers
World cup warm up event just concluded with flying colors but one thing that is irritating everyone is the anti-government protests from all the corners, in fact, thousands of protesters have warned the organizers to demonstrate every severer during the biggest soccer event. FIFA, who has tasted them in just concluded event, is taking their threats seriously and started consulting with Brazilian security agencies to know how they have planned to arrange security of 22 players on the field. In any ways, governing body has made it clear that if any tear gas or rubber bullet being used by security forces causes disturbance to any of the infield players, they will stop the match without thinking twice. FIFA, indeed, don’t want to interfere with the internal problem between Government and protestors; hence it has not issued any advisory about how they want security systems to be, but it has clearly warned both Brazilian government and local organizers to keep a tight check on their systems … [Read more...]
