It has been 24 years passed by when Hillsborough Stadium witnessed one of the worst stadium disasters in soccer history during a match between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool which was the semifinal of FA cup. There was a massive crush among spectators resulting in as many as 96 deaths and 766 injured. That incident is still the darkest day in British history; perhaps it was the wickedest display of police control that resulted in a massive disaster. Today is the 24th anniversary of that incident hence Reading paid homage to all the victims via a one minute silence during its EPL match against Liverpool who was also the team playing on that day. Reading has taken prior permission to hold such homage during a match; hence it was more a respect to all the innocent victims who were there to enjoy a soccer match but ended their lives all of a sudden. Reading issued a statement via its website that mentioned, “Supporters of Reading Football Club and Liverpool Football Club will hold a … [Read more...]
Barca to Play PSG, suspense over Messi
It is yet not cleared whether Messi will be a part of Barcelona for the coming showdown against Becks’ PSG ahead of its second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday. Messi has already missed Saturday’s Spanish league match against Mallorca due to a hamstring he got during 2-2- draw last week. Earlier, he was expected to recover by Wednesday, but there is no clear news from either Barca or Messi about whether he would be a part of the team or not. Notably, Barca won Saturday match with a crushing 5-0 margin without Messi; hence there is no point in assuming they can’t perform without Argentinian. Though, he participated in the training on Sunday in front of bunch of media personnel and even on Monday he was active in training sessions, yet Camp Nou club has kept his cards hidden until final match moments come in. If Messi does not play this match, Coach Tito Vilanova would surely like to repeat his squad that crushed Mallorca on Saturday; hence Fabregas is more likely … [Read more...]

This game was perhaps the first for Camp Nou club without Messi in the squad since 2010-11 seasons, and if this match was a test for rest of the teammates, they passed it with a ten on ten. Barca crushed their opponent with a 5-0 in the match and main contributor to its victory was Spanish footballer Cesc Fabregas who scored a brilliant hat trick to make it sure his team will comprehensively be ahead of other teams in the league. Actually, the absence of Messi worked well for other players, coz now they played without pressure of being underdog in front of Messi. So, this is being considered as a best discovery for Barca to prepare its second line of strikers alongside Messi. With a 5-0 humiliating victory, Barca maintained its 13-points lead over second placeholder Real Madrid and having eight games in the hand. … [Read more...]
