Young and promising Liverpool and England winger Raheem Sterling has been charged for assaulting a twenty seven year old woman last November when the player was just seventeen. His age made him named as a juvenile; hence his case was heard by a juvenile court here in Liverpool. The incident took place few months back when a mid-aged woman filed a complaint against the footballer; she also had some injuries on her face that time which later proved to be gained out of a physical violence. Though, the hearing was not attended by Sterling; his lawyer Mick Hogan presented his side in the court. Mr Hogan also told the court about his denial of doing any such violent act; perhaps he also pointed out his eighteen years of age which he attained last December; he asked the court to shift his case to an adult court. Government defines new ‘financial fair play’ rules for Spanish clubs
Spanish soccer clubs have ever been the most money rolling clubs where they throw away millions of dollars to buy a player of their choice irrespective of the fact whether they have maintained their accounts properly or not. Even if they do, they did not require sending their accounts for scrutiny. But now, this scenario is going to change with proposed changes in the fair play rules which are much like of English financial fair play. According to new rules, every La Liga club will have to send its accounts for the scrutiny every year and only if accounts are in order, it will be allowed to buy any player of its interest. Spanish government and the Liga de Futbol Profesional (LFP) jointly drafted these changes which are going to be applicable from next season. US asset manager BlackRock buys 8 percent stake in Manchester United
English soccer club Manchester United seems to be a growing blue chip investment off late, especially after it became the most valued soccer club of the world. In recent developments, a US investment firm BlackRock has bought around 8 percent of the club’s Class A shares through open market. Glazer family, controlling stock holder, will still hold the controlling powers in the club coz they have Class B share which have ten times more voting power than Class A shares. Manchester City enter a deal with Milan for Balotelli
After months of speculations, Italian striker Mario Balotelli is set to leave Manchester City to get a place in AC Milan. Reportedly, City has finalized a deal with AC Milan for the striker at an annual salary of 4.5 million euros for a four-and-a-half year term until 2017. It is an interesting comeback for the Italian striker coz he was shifted to the Manchester City from Milan back in 2010 at £22 million, but his spell at City never brings any glory for the English club, perhaps he always remained in the news for wrong reasons, and now he is back to his old club at an almost equal amount that Milan earlier paid for him. Nigeria head for Quarterfinal in AFCON
In a stunning finish of the group C group match, Nigeria striker Victor Moses scored two late goals to defeat Ethiopia by 2-0 at the Royal Bafokeng stadium in Rustenburg on Tuesday. With this win; Nigeria has entered into the knockout stage of the tournament where it will meet Cote d’voire in the quarterfinal. Last ten minutes changed the course of the game when Moses got two penalties and he converted them into finely tuned goals to lead his country into the next stage of AFCON 2013. Ethiopia’s long awaited spell at African event finished at the bottom of group C while defending champion Zambia also shadowed its dreams after a 0-0 draw with Burkina Faso.
