Newcastle defender wants an immediate return to Argentina

Newcastle United’s defender Fabricio Coloccini has expressed his desire to return to his homeland as soon as possible. It is like hit and go for the defender who has always been among main line of players, especially at the time when Newcastle need him the most. He has told his manager Alan Pardew that he wants either to move to North America or his native Argentina citing his personal reasons. Though, defender has not expressed any clear cut motive about his sudden desire to leave St James' Park, yet a crisis in his personal life is believed to be the reason for his return. On the other side, Geordies are hopeful that they will come out with an agreement with him coz he has not made any formal written request to leave the club, or if not possible, they will try to keep him until the end of this season. The backdrop of current incident is being linked to his recent performances where he could not prove his brilliance on the field. However, despite his £60,000 a week tag, player … [Read more...]

Udinese defender Danilo sentenced to jail for racism

January 12, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

In a dramatic end of a racial drama happened in 2010, a Brazilian court has sentenced one year imprisonment for Udinese defender Danilo in a case where he allegedly spit on the face of Atletico Paranese’s Manoel and called him a Monkey back in 2010 while playing for Palmeiras in the Copa do Brazil. The 28 year old Udinese defender made a shift from Palmeiras in the summer 2011 and continues to play for them till date. Playing for Udinese he has since made 25 appearances in Serie A. His sentence looks harsh apparently, but at the time when this incident took place, it was the most hated crime on the field which was widely criticized from every corner of the word, perhaps, many media channels advocated his life ban. Further, it is very much unlikely that the player would get any imprisonment, coz as expected, he will file an appeal and his sentence would likely be reduced to a fine rather sending him behind the bars. It is probably the first case in recent times, when a player has been … [Read more...]

Portland Timbers acquire Argentine Diego Valeri as designated player

In the transfer season, one more transfer has been taken place where Portland Timbers has reportedly acquired midfielder Diego Valeri as a designated player from Argentina’s first division Club Atletico Lanus. Since, this transfer is on loan, and especially as a designated player; his salary will not be counted under club’s overall salary ceiling. American professional football club Portland Timber can only use newly loaned player if he gets clearance to play in the United States which looks mare a formality now. Diego Valeri has been playing for Lanus since almost nine seasons with a descent record of scoring 25 goals in 128 played matches. Moreover, he was the main player to make his club win Primera Division title back in 2007, and his loan amount would definitely be handsome, according to sources. Since, he also played for Argentine national team and has been signed as a designated player; he will fill the international slot at Portland Timbers. Once midfielder gets his P-1 visa … [Read more...]

Terry signals a comeback, played for Chelsea under-21 side

After almost two months of absence from the field; Chelsea captain could enter in the New Year with his recovery from knee injury. Notably, the captain was sidelined after he faced four matches’ suspension over his racial comment row and then his knee injury against Liverpool. Recently, he signaled a comeback when he attended Chelsea training session, and now, he played as an overage player for Chelsea under-21 team against neighbor Fulham on Thursday. Though, he stayed for only 45 minutes on the field, but each of his movements has been continuously tracked by interim manager Rafael Benitez who was presented at the stadium. Perhaps, his attendance also marked a moral boost among under-21 team and they defeated southwest London club by 2-0. Under-21 manager Dermot Drummy issued a statement via club website that reads as, “John inspires all of the players. He leads by example but the most important thing from the club's point of view is that he looked in good shape.” Though, the … [Read more...]

Madrid enter into Spanish cup Copa de Rey’s quarterfinal

4 - 0 Yesterday was the day that belonged completely to Ronaldo and his hat trick for Madrid; perhaps it was his eighteen playing for The Whites. It was the pre quarterfinal of Spanish cup Copa de Rey where Real Madrid defeated Celta Vigo by 4-0 including a hat-trick on Wednesday. All these goals were outstanding, but first one scored in the third minute was best among all where his powerful swerving shot from a long distance defeated goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez and rested inside the far side-netting. His performance led Madrid to a win twice in the last four days and this shows how brilliant form he is in. Rolando lost the prestigious Ballon d'Or award to Messi few days back, and it looks he took it too seriously and trying to prove selectors’ decision wrong. Moreover, his contract dispute with Real also deserves a second look after magnificent display of his current form. If he continues this form in next couples of matches it would be a huge plus for Real Madrid, coz there are few … [Read more...]
