In US, EPL has been broadcasted by Fox and ESPN for almost two decades, but this year their combined bid has been rejected by EPL, so US viewers are all set to watch their favorite teams fighting on a new channel – probably NBC. The current broadcasting deal is to be expired this season, and for next season, EPL is inviting offers from various contenders for a new deal that would be for three years. AC Milan’s owner and former Italian Prime Minister is Jailed for Fraud
AC Milan’s president and owner: Silvio Berlusconi, who is also a former Italian Prime Minister, has been sentenced to four years of imprisonment over a tax evasion case, though; his sentence has already been reduced to one year. Berlusconi’s trail, who is the longest running Prime Minister post-war, and his indictment could mean lots of ups and downs in Milan’s financial health. At the moment, Berlusconi is planning to appeal against the order, yet it is confirmed that he is a convicted of tax frauds in Italy now. The 76 year old richest Italian was not in the court room at the time of the sentence and said judgment also debarred him for holding any public office for next three years. The reduction in his initial sentence from four years to one year has nothing to do with his position, but it is granted according to amnesty laws of Italy that describe means of relaxing overcrowded prisons in Italy. Three Guatemala Players are banned for Life for Match Fixing by FIFA
Match fixing is the next big thing happening in the soccer world today, and its latest sufferers are three Guatemala players who are banned by FIFA for life on match fixing charges. The players include Guillermo Ramírez , Yony Flores, Gustavo Adolfo Cabrera. Notably, these players were already banned by National Football Federation of Guatemala last month. The decision for their life suspension is taken based on the three matches that are suspected to be fixed by these players: one was CONCACAF League fixture between Santos Laguna and Guatemalan club which Santos won by score 6-1 margin in 2010 and other two matches were friendly clashes against Costa Rica and Venezuela in May and June this year. AFCON 2013, Ghana is a tough challenge for Mali, Niger, and DR Congo
African Cup of Nations 2013 is on the cart, and every team is recollecting its resources to win the title. As of now, all the group teams have been finalized and most important group of them is Group B where Ghana is placed along with Mali, Niger, and, DR Congo. Ghana is obviously a toughest challenge for other group participants, or perhaps other teams of the event. Even DR Congo’s coach: Claude Leroy has accepted publically that facing Ghana is a real challenge for them, despite the fact that he is training DR Congo’s team since last many years. Notably, this would be Leroy’s seventh spell in AFCON and he is still skeptical of his team’s victory in presence of Ghana. Friedel is thinking of his retirement
Since American soccer player and Tottenham Hotspur’s goalkeeper: Brad Friedel has crossed his 41 years of age; he is apparently thinking of his retirement. If rumors are to be believed, this premier league session will be the last for him. Notably, the star goalkeeper has played record 310 league matches consecutively without any break in his eight years career for the club. His first match for Tottenham was played on August 14, 2004, and during his long spell, there was only one halt when Hugo Lloris was chosen as his replacement in a Spurs fixture match against Aston Villa, and this halt disappointed him deeply especially by Hugo Lloris, who is considered to be his rival.
