Real Madrid is living on cloud nine these days coz they not only performed brilliantly in domestic La Liga – though they lost to city mate – but also in the UEFA Champions League. Perhaps, they have to play in the final of UEFA tourney and good news is they got their star players Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale back who were missing the squad for their injuries. This is a blowing news for Atletico Madrid who would face them in the final of European tourney. This year seems to be all Madrid season in Europe since both the city rivals have performed magnificently on both European platforms. This is also a win n win situation for Madrid fans coz whoever wins eventually, they would feel victorious. Anyways, for now, the availability of Ronaldo and Bale is the biggest source of inspiration not only for their club but also for their national side coz an early recovery can improve their chances to get fit by the next month Brazilian world cup. Actually, Ronaldo’s muscular fatigue has been a cause of concern for Real off late and that is why he could not complete two of the nine played games. For this reason, everyone was skeptical whether he would be back in the squad for the final or even by the time world cup kicks off.
Similarly, Bale’s unknown injury was also worrying Wales national side apart from Real coach. Fans took a deep breath when he was seen with the team for the last game at Balaidos, but unfortunately, he did not impart in the game and remained on the stands for full ninety minutes. To rule out any misconception about his health, Italian coach told in a post-match news conference that “is not 100 percent. He got a knock, but I decided not to risk him, especially when I could have put him on. I wanted to avoid any problems. Ronaldo underwent treatment this morning and is almost fully recovered. We have a fortnight to prepare for the match and I think they’ll be completely fit for the final. I think he’ll be able to play against Espanyol.”
Defender Sergio Ramos explained what they feel losing on domestic front, he said, “After a great season in this competition the team wasn’t up to scratch and we’ve let the Liga slip away from us in a very bad way. We can’t complain or let our heads go down. We have to switch gears from the last few matches. You go home feeling sad and disappointed for having let this unique opportunity to win the title pass us by. Nobody would have expected Barcelona and Atletico not to win today.”
