The kind of form Barcelona and its players are showing these days, it not surprising to see even opponent managers are praising their dominance in the field and last Barca vs SD Eibar game was one such faceoff when Camp Nou side thoroughly dominated and registered a convincing 4-0 victory in La Liga. Looking at the final score, it looks hosts would have not been as competitive but those who watched the complete game know it was not easy for any side in the world to break the solid defense fielded by the Eibar side, however, since it was Barca’s perfect combination of world class forwards who made it an easy affair for them. Score started surging in visitors favor right in the eighth minute when Messi’s pass helped Munir El Haddadi score his first goal and soon FIFA Ballon d’Or award winner added one more goal to their lead just before the half time. He along with Suarez again hit the net and took their lead to invincible stage with four goals by the full time. Actually, it was not easy for visitors to find the gaps but their clever passes made European champions job quite effortless.
Even coach Jose Mendilibar applauded the all-round performance of his visiting opponents and called them best in the world without taking any excuse of few decisions that went against them. He said in the press conference, “When Messi is playing it’s impossible, he creates goals out of nothing. I wasn’t surprised by them, but there’s something about watching them up close. They never miscontrol a pass, in that sense they are superior to every other team. But what amazes me most is their defensive work. They can defend with six or seven players and leave three players up front.”
While Barca manager also seemed satisfied with his side, but added being even thirstier for rest of the season and added, “We won’t get distracted by thinking we’re champions before we are. There are 30 points left to play for, the team knows that. In Vallecas we played a spectacular game, but today I think we were better, more solid, more complete. We played very well against a tricky rival away from home, we have overcome their pressure and barely let them create chances. Our players are playing very well and enjoying what they do.
“When they play at this level, it’s hard to stop them. We are in this situation thanks to our hard work, nobody has given us anything on a plate.”
