After the long speculations about a possible survival at Chelsea, temporary manager finally finds a new home as his short term contract with EPL club is coming to an end. Benitez, 53, will replace Walter Mazzarri as Napoli coach who has also made a shift from Napoli to their rival Inter. The deal is said to be completed in last week, but final announcement was only made on yesterday when club President Aurelio De Laurentiis posted a picture of him with Benitez on his twitter account. Napoli has been a top performing club in Serie A hence it would surely look forward to explore Benitez’s experience with EPL into championship where they have already qualified. Even in Serie A, they are just on the second spot after Juventus. Actually, Benitez was always wanted to serve Chelsea for a longer period of time, but off late, he could be successful in winning fans confidence, hence despite taking the Blues to the third spot in the EPL and winning Europa League defeating Benfica in the final, he has ever been criticized for his isolated qualities among players and fans. Laurentiis said about his new coach that “Rafa Benitez is the new coach of Napoli. A man of great international experience. A leader.”
Benitez’s other noticeable achievements playing for Blues are taking them to Club world cup final where they were defeated by Corinthians by 1-0. Moreover, Chelsea also could manage to reach into the semifinals of both FA Cup and League Cup. After he announced his departure from Chelsea, he had been linked with many clubs by the media, like Everton and Stoke, but finally he chose Napoli to continue his unpopular but successful soccer career. On the other side, Napoli also issued a statement on their website informing about their newly appointed coach. It reads as, “Rafa Benitez is the new coach of Napoli. The agreement was signed today in London. SSC Napoli is happy to welcome a coach so prestigious in their own family. A welcome also to his collaborators.”
As far Chelsea is concerned, Jose Mourinho, the former boss of Blue, would probably be its next manager. Earlier, he has been associated with Chelsea from 2004 to 2007 and then moved to Spanish giant Real Madrid. Benitez said over his parting that “The next year there will be another manager. I think everybody knows who will be here. It’s not my concern what will happen here next season, I’m just concentrating on doing my job.”
